AGM-30 Airplane Engine Troubleshoot Guide

This troubleshooting guide is for AGM-30 airplane model engine; in many ways, similar to those gas engines. If you have no spark or think you are having an engine problem, please contact your seller or manufacture for further help.
The following information will help you detect engine troubles and take corrective action.
Engine does not fire
If the engine fails to fire, the trouble can usually be traced to the battery, spark plug, or engine.
Ignition battery voltage low trouble generally occurs before the engine gets too low to perform the required work. The failure is normally preceded by charging or replacing battery.
Battery wires faulty or loose can deteriorate with age causing misfires, hard starting and poor performance. Wires should be replaced or reconnect.
Spark plugs, well, spark the combustion in your engine; it plays a vital role in keeping the engine running. If the spark plugs are all gunked-up or misfiring, the engine won't be running and starting properly. This can be done by removing the spark plug from the cylinder of the engine, inserting the plug onto the plug cap, and contacting the plug to the outside of the crankcase. Have an assistant turn the engine over while checking this and be sure to have the spark plug firmly plugged into the ignition wire.
Warning: The high voltage from the ignition can cause bodily harm, especially when checking for spark in this manner.
Symptom Diagnosis Solution
Engine does not fire Ignition battery voltage low    Charge or replace battery
Battery wires faulty or loose Replace wires or Re-connect/check connections
Faulty spark plug or not firing Replace spark plug or check for spark.
Engine flooded Remove plug, disconnect fuel line, rotate prop to remove fuel
Engine starts then rpm increases till engine cuts out Fuel not reaching engine Check for:
a) fuel in tank
b) fuel tubing cut, blocked, or kinked
c) carburetor clogged
Note: please always keep flames and sparks of all kinds away from the vicinity of storage batteries. In confined spaces this gas can form a dangerous explosive mixture.
When use your engine, you may encounter other problems that don't list above. The best way to identify and correct the cause of engine trouble is to think like a mechanic and use a systematic approach to problem solving.
